Cookie Policy

This policy explains what cookies are, how MGB Shopping uses them and the choices you have. We use cookies to keep the store secure, to remember your preferences and, with your consent, to understand how the site is used and to show you relevant offers.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to work more efficiently and to provide information to the site owner. Similar technologies such as local storage and pixels work in the same way, and we refer to all of them as “cookies” in this policy.

Cookies cannot run programs or carry viruses. They simply let us recognise your browser between page loads and visits — for example, to keep you signed in or to remember what is in your cart.

2. Types of Cookies We Use

We group the cookies we use into four categories. Essential cookies are always on because the store cannot work without them. Every other category is optional and only set once you give your consent.

Cannot be disabled

Essential cookies

These keep MGB Shopping working. They remember your session, keep you signed in, hold the items in your cart and protect checkout against cross-site request forgery. Without them the site simply cannot function, so they are always on.

Optional

Functional cookies

These remember the choices you make — your language, theme and preferred currency — so the store feels the same every time you return. Turning them off means you may need to set your preferences again on each visit.

Optional

Analytics cookies

Tools such as Google Analytics help us understand which pages are popular, how shoppers move through the store and where things can be improved. The data is aggregated and is never used to identify you personally.

Optional

Marketing & tracking cookies

These power relevant offers and let us measure our advertising — for example Facebook Pixel and Google Ads. They only load if you accept marketing cookies, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.

3. Cookies at a Glance

The table below summarises the categories of cookies we set, what they are used for, how long they last and whether you can opt out.

CategoryPurposeDurationOpt out?
EssentialSession, authentication, cart and security (CSRF)Session / 7 daysNo
PreferencesLanguage, theme and currency choices1 yearNo
AnalyticsGoogle Analytics, page views and usage insights2 yearsYes

4. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are set by trusted third parties whose services we rely on. These include analytics providers (such as Google Analytics), advertising platforms (such as Facebook Pixel and Google Ads) and the payment providers whose secure SDKs we use at checkout.

We do not control these cookies, and they are governed by the privacy policies of the providers concerned. Marketing and analytics scripts from third parties only load after you have accepted the relevant category in our consent banner.

5. How to Manage Cookies

You are always in control. When you first visit MGB Shopping a consent banner appears at the bottom of the screen where you can accept all cookies, reject the non-essential ones or open Manage Preferences to choose category by category. Your choice is saved and can be changed whenever you like.

  • Use the consent manager to toggle Functional, Analytics and Marketing cookies on or off — your changes apply immediately.
  • Adjust your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Most browsers let you do this from their privacy or security menu.
  • Note that blocking essential cookies will stop core features such as signing in and checkout from working.

Manage your cookie preferences

Reopen the consent manager at any time to review or update the choices you have saved.

6. Cookie Consent Banner

On your first visit we show a short banner explaining that we use cookies to improve your experience and, with your consent, for analytics and marketing. From there you can:

  • Accept All — enable every category of cookie.
  • Manage Preferences — choose exactly which optional categories to allow.
  • Reject Non-Essential — keep only the cookies the store needs to work.

Your preferences are saved in your browser, and for signed-in shoppers they are stored against your account so they follow you across devices. Authentication cookies are marked httpOnly and cannot be read by scripts in the browser.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, the law or the way we operate. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies.

8. Contact Us

If you have any questions about this Cookie Policy or how we handle your data, please get in touch. We are happy to help.
